Sustainable Efforts Around the World

Hundreds of students, faculty, staff, and partners around the world participate in a Global Day of Action, a coordinated effort to spotlight sustainability. The event, which is hosted annually, celebrates the feast of St. Francis and calls on the worldwide community to care for our common home.

Staff at the Global Gateways and Centers help facilitate special events and gatherings with study abroad students, which include a canal cleanup in Dublin, a nature walk in Galway, a feast service in Mumbai, and a special gathering in Rome where students read passages from Laudato Si'.

New Travel Policy—Registration Connected to Reimbursement

Notre Dame International (NDI) Travel and Safety supports the health, safety, and security of all University travelers by enabling safe and responsible international travel, mitigating risks to Notre Dame and individuals traveling, and responding to emergencies abroad.

As of July 1, 2022, all faculty, staff, and graduate students traveling abroad on University-related travel must now register their travel in advance and attach their confirmation email to their Concur expense report in order to receive expense report approval and reimbursement.

“Travel registration is a key component to safeguarding and supporting our international travelers so they can stay informed about changing conditions and tap into these resources,” says Jaime Signoracci, director of international travel safety.

Notre Dame International has partnered with International SOS (ISOS), the world’s leading international medical and security assistance company, to help inform, advise, and assist University travelers before and during University-related trips abroad.

"As a university committed to internationalization and engaged in a variety of initiatives and activities around the world, having this partnership with ISOS will enable our faculty and staff to operate globally with greater confidence as they do their research and work on behalf of Notre Dame,” says Michael Pippenger, vice president and associate provost for internationalization.

“It is our priority to keep our travelers abroad informed of changing environments that could impact their work and support them on University-related international travel. There is no doubt that this partnership strengthens our support to our travelers and travel risk management program overall.”
