The Notre Dame community is enriched by the presence and engagement of the international student community. Our hope is that each international scholar leaves campus with a wealth of connections; an appreciation for Notre Dame’s values of scholarship, service, and solidarity; and the pride that they have educated their fellow students about their home countries and cultures.

Global Engagement Team host two cohorts from Mexico
Sponsored by Fulbright COMEXUS and the U.S. Embassy in Mexico, Notre Dame International welcomed 48 students from Mexico for the Science, Technology and Engineering for our Common Home (STECH) program. Each cohort visited campus for one week and participated in online courses for three weeks. Track one, sustainable research computing, was taught by Dr. Paul Brenner at the ND Center for Research Computing. For track two, the academic topic was sustainability and resilience in engineering systems and supplies taught by Dr. Peter Burns. In addition, 11 students from Mexico participated in the International Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (iSURE) program for eight weeks.
Anthropology major embarks on effort to preserve and document her native Nigerian language
Godiya Simon came to Notre Dame needing to learn a language in order to be successful. Now, she’s headed to an elite graduate program in part because of her work to ensure another language never goes extinct.
Simon didn’t know just how rare her native language was until a conversation one day with her linguistic anthropology professor, Susan Blum — a realization that inspired her to create a cross-continental multimedia effort to preserve and document it.

Global Engagement Programs
Notre Dame International and the Global Engagement Programs team provide transformative and innovative intercultural learning experiences, internationalize the Notre Dame campus and community, and develop outstanding academic opportunities for international students through non-degree seeking and short-term programs at our home under the Dome. Students in these programs work directly with Notre Dame faculty, go on academic and cultural excursions outside of the classrooms, and become integrated into our campus community. Summer programs vary in length from two to eight weeks and take place during the summer months of May through August, which offer the best opportunity to experience life on the beautiful campus of Notre Dame.
International Student Orientation 2023
International Student Orientation (ISO) provides international students with important information and resources to maintain their visa status, engage the international community at the University, and navigate the adjustment to a life in the United States.
Several events are planned during orientation by the International Student and Scholars Affairs (ISSA) team, which helps provide students with invaluable information and resources to help them make the most out of their time at the University and learn more about Notre Dame's vibrant campus culture.
